30 motoristas do Uber já foram assaltados por grupo de menores

The criminals were arrested and are suspected of committing another 30 crimes

The violence that used to happen to taxi drivers has now been turned into a new segment by criminals: they are also robbing drivers who work with the Uber app. Earlier this month, the Military Police arrested three minors who tried to rob an Uber driver in Vila Leopoldina, in the West Zone of the capital. The trio operated in the area and were recognized by other Uber drivers who had been robbed in similar actions.

The minors used a fake profile on the app and one of them was armed. The victim, who was driving a Honda Civic, said he became suspicious of the criminals and started driving slower until a police vehicle approached the vehicle.

One of the bandits is 15 years old and the other two accomplices are 17. According to the police, the boys are suspected of having robbed another 30 Uber drivers.

Drivers complain that the number of robberies has increased since the app started accepting cash in August.
